Former Volkswagen boss investigated - AGO Germany announced it has opened an investigation against the former chief executive Martin Winterkorn manipulation scandal Volkswagen vehicle emissions testing.
Mentioned by the Attorney General that the investigation began on Monday (28/09) centered on allegations of fraud in the sales of cars with emissions data is manipulated.
Martin Winterkorn resigned last week following the scandal of manipulation of the emissions test on the millions of diesel-fueled vehicles production company Volkswagen.
Winterkorn insists he knew nothing about manipulation of the emission test. He was replaced by Matthias Mueller as the new chief executive.
In a related development, Volkswagen has been given a deadline to draw up a plan to make the Volkswagen diesel emissions in accordance with German regulations.
"Federal Motor Transport Authority has sent a letter to Volkswagen and asked the company to submit a binding timetable of when the measures needed to overcome the technical problems in the affected vehicles can be implemented," said a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport, Martin Sustec.
"Federal Motor Transport Authority has set the time and requires a plan of Volkswagen until October 7," he added.
Scandal emission test was recorded as the biggest case in the history of Volkswagen. The company has the potential to underwrite billions of dollars in fines and compensation.
